Now Im no doctor but Im pretty sure the human form, or any form for that matter, can only move a certain number of ways so there is bound to be some overlap somewhere. Now just clarify something, Im talking about stealing poses and not straight out tracing. Tracing is wrong.
Now here is an example of what I mean.
Artist A has drawn two characters kissing in ¾ profile with the guys hands at the small of her back.
Artist B, having no contact with Artist A, has drawn two different characters kissing in ¾ profile with the guys hands at the small of her back.
Does this mean that Artist B has copied Artist A?
Im gonna say no.
Why? Its a pose and a generic one at that. I get annoyed when I see other artists bitch and moan about someone stealing their poses especially when its something generic like the one in my example. I hate it when an artist I admire starts to freak out and does the whole 'drama journal' thing like this,
My God, I have a character leaning against a wall and blowing cigarette smoke and they do too! They have stolen my pose!!
Get over yourself. -_-
